Haddie - 6 months

Half of our baby's first year is already over! Wow! I cannot believe she is growing so fast. She is still very laid back. She goes to Mother's Day Out twice a week now. She is still sleeping in our room and has not started any food yet. Haddie loves her brothers and sister, her exersaucer, swing, being held and ANYONE who will talk to her. She is our little sweetie. She likes to say "Lylylyly" & "dada." Of course she has no clue what she is saying, but Lyla & Scott will disagree. Lyla calls her "little Bella." We have no idea where this comes from, but no one else is her "bella." Only Haddie!

Chevron Quilt

I finished my chevron quilt. Hallelujah!!! I had fun working on it, but it took some time. I just returned from a 4 day craft retreat where I was able to spend lots of time putting it together. I love how it turned out. There are many mistakes, but I learned a lot. My kids love it. Even the boys!

I used 5 Moda charm packs to make this quilt. Here are the pieces I was lying out to try to figure out the size I wanted.

The cut pieces...

Pieced together. Now just figuring out binding and back.

The back. I love the giant polkadots.

Boys & a late night movie

Last night Caleb, Gavin & I went on a late night date. Scott was officiating a game, so we had to wait until he was done to come be with the girls. We left home at 9:30 for a 9:40 showing of Journey 2 in 3d. C & G were so excited to be going out this late. Plus, they loved the first Journey movie, so it was just a big deal. They were happy to have their favorite seats on the back row :-). Great movie for all of us!!!

Southwest Chicken

One of my favorite recipes is Southwest Chicken. It's so easy & everyone in my family eats at least something out of it.

You'll need:
Boneless skinless chicken breasts (3-6)
Can corn (1 or 2)*
Can black beans (1 or 2)*
Jar of Salsa

* I use 2 jars of one & 1 jar of the other. Does not matter which one.

Pour cans & about 1 cup salsa into crock pot. Stir it up.

Place chicken on top of vegetables & then cover chicken with the remaining salsa. Cook on high for 4 hours.

When chicken is about 10 minutes from being done, add some shredded cheese. Cook until melted.

I believe the original recipe said to serve over rice, but we love Mexican food & we love chips, so this is how we eat it. Yummy!

Caleb & Gavin - 10th Birthday!

TEN YEARS OLD!!!! This birthday made me sad. 10 is soooo old! :-)
Scott & I have been so blessed with these two. They are so caring, loving and super smart. We love them so much and have had tons of fun raising them!
We took 6 boys to Main Event where they played video games, bowled and played laser tag.

Lyla's 1st Haircut

Lyla was in desperate need of a real haircut.
I have been trimming her hair for about a year, but let's face it. I'm no professional. I'm not even ok at it.
Lyla's hair looked really bad when it was down, so every single day we had to do pigtails and ponytails or whatever updo we could come up with.
I still love her hair up and out of her face, but I am enjoying being able to leave it down if we want.

I was unable to get any pics of the actual haircut because I took Haddie and Lyla alone. Lyla sat in my lap as I held her down and distracted her :-)
Sweet Girl!!!

San Antonio Trip

I was able to take a little vacation with my friend, Christie. We went to Stampin' Up's Leadership conference in San Antonio. It was great seeing friends from around the country and relaxing a little with just one child :)

We went to Big Lou's Pizza our first night. There were 9 ladies with us and we shared a 42 inch pizza! It was huge and delicious! Gotta check them out if you ever head that way!

Meeting new friends and catching up with old ones :)
Haddie was a good little traveler. Love that girl!
On the riverwalk. We love Mexican food, but Christie & I were tired of it. I think we at it 4 or 5 times in a row!
It was so great to "get away" with my friend :)
