Gavin's sweet note

Scott was out of town this weekend for a basketball camp. Gavin was missing him and wrote this note with no help or ideas from me.

Translated:
I love you. I missed you. Did you have a good time? ____ Do you know how much I love you? 10,000 percent. Did you miss me? ____ How much do you love me? _____

so sweet! I love his answer lines and backwards letters.

28 Days - Day 15

Photo assignment: your comfy ______________

I chose my favorite jeans. I have had these things for about 5 years. They are soooo comfy, but they look terrible! I wear them in the mornings to drop the kids off at school. I cannot seem to let myself get rid of them. I've thought about keeping a pocket and scrapbooking it....

28 Days - Day 14

Photo assignment: a yummy treat

No sweets today, instead I treated myself to a new book. Maybe I'll read it once school is out and we do not have so many activities. I read Escape by Carolyn Jessop and could not put it down, so I was very excited to hear about this one!

The Serious One

The other night Scott had to work late, so I let C & G choose our dinner. They wanted IHOP... eew! Anyway, there is a new kids meal on the menu - a pancake decorated with strawberry eyes and whip cream mouth, PLUS you get strawberry yogurt in a bag to decorate the face more. I thought they may like it, but Gavin said "What's the point? You are just going to take it all off to eat the pancake." He was so serious when he said this. I wanted to scream "For Fun!" Honestly I completely understand where he is coming from, but do any other kids think this way?

28 Days - Day 13

Photo assignment: the outside of your home

Just like his Daddy

Today was Career Day in Caleb’s class. Everyone dressed up in what they want to be when they grow up. Caleb does not really know what he wants to be. In the past he has wanted to be a mailman and an ice cream man, but at 6 he has no clue. Last week I started asking what he wanted to dress up like and we finally decided on a Heartland Ham worker, just like Daddy. Caleb is my one who does not like a lot of attention, so I think he knew this was the safest “costume.” This morning he was so excited and even decided on his own that he needed to wear a hat – one of Daddy’s hats!

Honestly, I still have not taken a photo for this one. I wanted a photo of a meal at our house, but it just does not happen too often. I want this to be our true reality to look back on. Each time we have gone out I've forgotten the camera. Maybe tonight........

My new hobby

My friend Christie and I have a new hobby. We go to the movies during the day and eat popcorn for lunch. Of course I feel a little guilty (kind of like skipping school or calling in sick to work). Not sure why.... However, we keep doing it. :) Today we went and saw WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS. We laughed so hard! If you want to go to the movies, go see this one! We decided we were not going to tell our husbands we went just so that we could take them back and see it again!

Mother's Day

First of all I am sooooo thankful that I am a mom. I remember 6 years ago when I dreaded Mother's Day and how hard it was celebrating this holiday. We are so blessed that God has given us 2 sweet healthy boys! I woke up to this cute little sign Gavin made for me and had daddy hang up for him. It says, " Happy Mother's Day. I love you."
I was then sent on a scavenger hunt throughout our house to find all of these little gifts.... so much fun. G & C love making little clues and picking out hiding places.
G & C also gave me the gifts they had made at school. Gavin made a little book. This was one of the pages..... Caleb wrote me a little letter. Translated - It says, " Dear Mom, Thank you. I love you when you are with me. I love love love love love love love love love you. Caleb."

After church we took pictures before changing clothes and walking to Grandmommer's house to give her her gift .....

What a great day!

28 Days of our lives

I'm doing a 28 day challenge. I'm not really sure WHY yet, just being told what to photograph in my life RIGHT NOW. I guess we will find out the purpose at the end. Here are my assignments and the photos I took....

Day 1 - Photo assignment: pantry - capture your real life and how things really are, so no straightening up allowed.

ok - a little embarassing, but this is truly what my pantry looked like on Thursday.

Day 2 - Photo assignment: mailbox.

Day 3 - Photo assignment: your refrigerator. You can take a photo of the outside or inside: the choice is yours.

For those of you who don't know, I rarely cook... very evident from this photo.

Day 4 - Photo assignment: something you use every day. It can be any "something," it's up to you what.

This is for sure something I use every single day. It is my phone, camera, email, internet, calendar, memo pad, direction giver, clock, music player, phone book..... I love it!

Things I will miss.....

One of these days I am going to miss my 6 year old boys:

(1) fighting over who is going to sit by mom at dinner.

(2) wanting to sleep with us every night.

(3) giving me fish kisses, butterfly kisses, eskimo kisses, etc. so that they can stay up just a little later.

(4) thinking things are adowable (the way Caleb says "adorable")

(5) sitting on our laps before and after dinner at a restaurant.

Muffins for Mom

This morning the boys' school had Muffins for Mom in honor of Mother's Day...... ha! Actually it was the perfect plan to get all the moms in to buy books at the book fair. What a way to start the morning, standing in line with 75 other moms and kids looking at the 10 books they had each picked out... you know the books with the toys included. A six year old does not care what the book is about! It was a crazy morning trying to eat a muffin with C & G while they were wanting to run around the courtyard with their friends. This is an attempt to get a photo of the morning. I asked a kindergartener to take the photo....
Gavin wanted his turn snap a pic of Caleb and I......
Now Caleb's turn to get Gavin and me.... Yes, Gavin is wearing pajamas and a robe. His class earned a pajama day.
And finally the kids just doing what they wanted to do..... The little friend is Colton. Today is his birthday, so he was very excited. Caleb is the photographer.

Yet, Another Field Trip

Well, 2 kids in the same grade in different classes means 2 field trips for mom! Today I went back to Camp Tyler with Caleb. I thought it would be exactly the same as Wednesday, but God had other plans. As I was following the bus the radio station was interupted several times with reports of tornado warnings very close to us. Finally, we arrived and the counselors there seemed to think we could do a couple of things in the WIDE OPEN FIELDS before the rain hit. So we walked around for a few minutes looking at the pigs. I think I looked up the entire time making sure I did not spot a twister. Finally we got a report that Lake Tyler was hit. HELLO! That is where we were. Here are a few of the kids walking back inside before we all started running!
Once inside one of the cabins we tried to find a safe place. Our class crammed ourselves into a small bathroom. There were about 20 students and 4 adults. Notice the matress leaning over Mrs. Lee and Caleb. There were even 4 little girls in the shower. We did not have to stay too long......
Finally, the warning was lifted and we got to go back outside. We quickly did get to see and feed some animals ... the baby goat, Patches who is a twin and has been bottle-fed.....

This is Caleb's little buddy, Colton....

What a day! We did finish it by going to Brookshires and seeing most of the same things as Wednesday. This Mom is worn out!!!! I think I'll let the kids play the Wii and take a nap........

Caleb's Request

Today Caleb asked me if I could call him a new name....... He now wants me to call him "Sugar Plum." How does this boy think of these things?

Dear Caleb - at 16 when I'm calling you Sugar Plum, here is proof that YOU asked me to do it! :) Love, Momma
