I do realize that I have taken a 2 month break from blogging and today I've decided I'm going to try and catch you up.
Lyla turned 1 on May 29th. We had an ice cream party for her. She was a little tired and overwhelmed, but very cute! My mom and I spent time together before Lyla's birthday to make her a dress for the big day. I loved how it turned out! I am not very good at sewing, but I'm not a fan of reading directions or following them. In fact, it bothers me for someone to tell me what to do. So.... I cut the pattern out all wrong and then designed other parts and pieces to make it work. My mom helped me do it and even sewed the parts that I was afraid to mess up. I do not think I ever got a picture of the dress alone. Maybe I'll do that today :)
Lyla did not do a cake smash like her brothers did. They had cake everywhere! Lyla took the tiniest, most ladylike bites and ate them very slowly. She was very cute doing it, but it was not very entertaining :) She did get her foot into the action. She loves her feet and uses them a lot. If she meets someone new or wants to touch something, she will stick her foot out to touch the person or thing. She loves to stick a foot up onto the highchair. Just a little Lylaism...
I had a couple of friends come help me with her party. Sarah Trevino was so sweet to let us borrow her idea and setup for the cute ice cream theme. She does an awesome blog called fierceglamourblog.com You have to check it out. She is the cutest thing inside and out!
Another of my friends, Beth Beck, came and took these photos of Lyla and lots more. She did such a great job! Beth was one of my students back when I taught high school. She is all grown up now and is married with a beautiful little girl.
Lyla got lots of cool presents for her birthday.... baby dolls, riding toys, jewelry and clothes.
Lyla's favorite word right now is "uh oh" and we love the perfect little O her mouth makes when she says it. We are saying it together here.
Happy Birthday to you Lyla Grace. We love you so much and are so thankful for this wonderful year. You are our sweet baby girl and you are SOOOOO loved!!!

The pictures are precious! I LOVE that cake. Did you take a picture of the pennant or am I missing it in one of the photos? So cute!
